100 YEARS OLD
CENTENNIAL 1855-1955

SERVICE STATION

The oil station, known as Stupp’s DX Service was as the name implies being operated by Earl Stupp. In ‘55 it had been operated by Al Boll. It was first constructed about 1924 on the northeast corner of Market and Fourth Street by a man named Carpenter who sold the business to W.C. (Kurt) Cable.

In April of 1926, the business was sold to Raymond Kansjens, of Hancock county. Ray relocated to Steamboat Rock, and operated the oil station for 22 years. In June of 1948 he sold out to Kenneth and Blanch Scadden of Marshall county who sold it soon after to Hib Moore. Hib leased the building to Alfred (Al) Boll who purchased his own equipment and operated the business for the next seven years.

In December of 1955, the business and equipment were purchased by Mr. & Mrs. E.W. Stupp.

On July 1, 1965 Mr. and Mrs. Stupp purchased the building and remodeled and expanded the buildings.
